Pre-IB Courses, as the name suggests, are designed to prepare students for the first year of the International Baccalaureate. In this way, we enable students in the 9th or 10th grades a seamless transition to the first IB year. It is completely independent of whether you attend an IB school beforehand or are in the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education). The courses take place with us in Oerlinghausen, at your home or online.
In order to provide you with the best possible care, we offer intensive weeks (5 days of 4 hours each). As part of these intensive weeks, we prepare you for the changes that the IB brings with it: Mathematics in English, a system that is fundamentally different from any other school form and much more mathematical topics than are represented in most curricula. We take this opportunity to close gaps from the intermediate level. In this way we create a reliable, stable basis for new knowledge and thus avoid the creation of new gaps. Procedure of the Pre-IB Courses
In terms of content, we always start with a short entrance test to analyze the current state of knowledge. Because the problem is usually not the current mathematics, but gaps from the past. Another focus is on study skills. Our goal is to show you how to teach yourself math. At the end of the day, it is these learning techniques that will get you through the Final Exams.
During the week we work through the material individually and systematically and work with you to create a learning plan for the coming weeks and months.
